End of year letter

Dear Parents,

I cannot believe that the end of the school year is approaching so quickly. It has been a great year that has been filled with much joy and happiness. We have covered a lot of material and have gotten the opportunity to participate in many fun projects. We were lucky enough to go to see a Wrinkle in Time, go to the Mcmichael art Gallery as well as create and put on plays and make a very cool Halloween Maze! We also made a survival guide and worked hard with our reading buddies! As your child gets ready for 6th grade this summer, they can rest assured that it will be a wonderful upcoming school year. They can look forward to meeting new friends, teachers and learning some very cool things!

As your child moves from 5th to 6th grade, there are some very important things that you can do this summer to help them succeed. Take the time to listen to your child read and make sure that they are reading each night for at least 20 minutes. Practice their math facts so that they will be ready for 6th grade math. Encourage your child to write often. If you go on vacation this summer, then encourage your child to take a journal with them and write a little bit about their trip each day. This is a great way for a child to get their thoughts organized onto paper. Encourage good social skills and help them make good choices and order for themselves if you go out to eat. All of these things will help your child lead to big successes the next school year.

As well as academics there are a lot of great things wonderful memorise that can be created over the summer as well. I encourage everyone to, spend time outside, play with friends, go places with your family even if it is just the local park, go for a hike, try and find a wild animal, eat ice cream, see a movie, learn a new hobbie, watch the sunset and enjoy the little moments.

It has been my pleasure getting to know your child this school year. Having your parental support was an essential part of the year. I would like to personally thank each and every one of the parents, grandparents, and other family members who have taken the time to volunteer, ask questions or contacted me throughout the school year. Your dedication and support has not gone unnoticed.

Thanks again for a wonderful year. Have a fantastic summer.

Sincerely,

Mr. Gareth Hussey

P.s. We will be having our end of year party on June 27th please bring a snack to share with 4-5 other people if you would like to do so. We will spend time on this day watching a movie, eating food and playing outside.
